In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

The preview reveals the young girl — who received the toy collection when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Surely, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the insignia attached to her outfit.

Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
